GOI International Scholarships 2013/14 – Extension of Deadline for applications

Following requests from a number of HEIs, the HEA has agreed to extend the deadline for applications for GOI International Scholarships 2013/14.  The new deadline will be Friday 21st December 2012.

A Review of the Structure of Initial Teacher Education Provision in Ireland

The HEA has been requested to undertake a review of the structure of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) provision in Ireland by the Minister for Education and Skills.  An international panel with specific expertise in teacher education has been established by the HEA to conduct the review and will report to the HEA by the end of summer 2012.

In a speech to the USI Annual Conference in Ballinasloe today Mr. Tom Boland, CEO of the Higher Education Authority asked students and their parents to become partners with the HEA and Government in finding a solution to the funding of higher education.  Pointing to the need for more resources if quality was not to be seriously eroded, Mr.
