The Strategy was announced Jan 11, 2011. |
The Strategy Group supported by a secretariat are working to their terms of reference, analysing the current environment of Irish higher education and considering the role that higher education plays in modern societies. The Group are currently engaged in formulating a comprehensive strategic policy framework that will ensure that national objectives for the sector are achieved in the coming decades.
As part of this process, the Strategy Group advertised an open call for submissions on 15th May 2009 and asked those submitting to identify the three most significant changes that they would wish to see made to Irish higher education and the barriers or obstacles which they would identify to the achievement of those objectives.
The Strategy Group have received over 100 submissions to date. Submissions can be read in full by clicking on the links in the submission list. Where these submissions have been made in a personal capacity, contact details for those submitting have been removed.
If you are interested in the views of those submitting on particular aspects of the higher education system, the following report has grouped elements of each submission according to theme. The report can be accessed here.
As part of this consultation process the Strategy Group requested more direct input from specific stakeholders to assist them in their deliberations. Discussion forums with academics, students, and second level and enterprise took place in October/November. The reports arising from these focus groups can be read by clicking on the links.
