Institutional Access Plans
The National Access Office attended a meeting of the Higher Education Access Officers Network (AMA) on the 28th and 29th January 2008 to discuss the emerging National Access Plan.
A working meeting of the access officers of the Institutes of Technology (through IOTI) on the development of statements of access policy was hosted by the National Office on the 7th February 2008. These statements of policy are required of Institutes under the Institutes of Technology Act 2006 and by the Universities under the Universities Act 1997.
The National Office have advised that each institution should link their statements of access policy to the development in the near future of institution-wide access plans. This was one of the key recommendations of the 2006 evaluation of access programmes Towards the Best Education for All. It will also feature as a recommendation in the National Access Plan for the period 2008-2013.
Other recent discussions include during a Staff Development Day in Limerick Institute of Technology on the 14 February and at the inaugural meeting of the 3rd level Post-Entry Student Support Officers group on 5 March 2008.
